The Monarch butterflies preserve

We took Kirra out to check out the Monarch butterfly preserve at Elwood Mesa. Kirra enjoyed watching them fly around and get together in clusters on the eucalyptus trees... So many of them...

Sunset walk at Miramar - Hammonds

We enjoyed the most beautiful sunset walk at Miramar and Hammond's... The evening glow was simply breathtaking. Kirra enjoyed checking out the tidepools, and getting her face licked by local dogs...

And it's back to the pool, for more fun...

First crawl...

We waited 9 1/2 months for this... Poor Kirra was sick with the stomach flu that morning, and we were just hanging outside on the lawn... She surprised us with her first crawl that day! Wow... That was just awesome! And both Tony and I were there to see it... We had our camera nearby, so we taped some of her first crawls... See the video below.

Back to the Zoo...

The Zoo is turning out to be one of our favorite walks... It's so nice to just go there for a little while once in a while, now that we have the pass. Kirra loves seeing the penguins getting fed, as they get so lively then. Checking out the mighty leopard is always impressive... Good thing they have a glass window between us...

Getting together with the PEP babies

Our PEP group still meets every week, some in on Wed morning, some on Wed evening. This one time, we hung out at Ali's place... We tried to line up the babies for a picture, but it was like herding cats! Impossible... They are getting too mobile...

This little girl loves swimming...

Kirra just loves her swim class. We now go every Monday evening, and she gets so excited when we get in the parking lot... She knows! Oma also usually comes along to enjoy the show... We have a great time watching Kirra do her thing...

Santa Barbara Zoo

We decided to get a yearly membership to the SB Zoo for 2009. Kirra is now old enough to appreciate some of the animals, and it's such a nice walk for us at the same time... Her favorite animals so far? The swans, the otters and the pinguins...

We were even able to trace her family tree (see below)!!!

Sunset walk on the breakwater, and dinner at Brophy's

Kirra is getting to enjoy Santa Barbara's beautiful sunsets... We had an evening walk on the breakwater, enjoying the sun going down over LedBetter beach. We then had dinner at Brophy's, where Kirra had a great time watching the chefs cook behind the counter!

Happy New Year!

Kirra had her first taste of what New Year's celebrations are all about... We went to a party at our hang-gliding friend Little John, and his wife Holly. Kirra had a nice time socialising with everyone, but didn't last much later than... 9pm! Happy New Year!

Did I mention that Kirra loves her cat? She actually loves tackling her, and then take a big bite out of the furr... Grrrrrrrrrrrrrreat! Check out the video below for some fun Kirra & Pekoe time...

Big girl carseat

We got Kirra a new carseat, as she was getting a bit cramped in the other one. She's pretty stoked with it, especially now that she can look outside the car windows... It's a whole new world for her, and she's loving it...

9 months and 7 teeth...

These teeth keep on coming... At that rate, she'll have a mouth full of them by the time she's one!

Miramar Beach

We were blessed with some beautiful weather over Xmas and the New Year... So, we made the most of it, and headed to the beach for some wonderful walks. Kirra loves playing in the sand, and simply loves the beach... Check her out in the video below:

Figuring out the remote control...

Babies seem fascinated by everything they are not supposed to play with (like the TV remote, your car keys, cell phone, etc.). Like other babies, Kirra loves to play with the TV remote (even though she doesn't watch much TV at all); however, she has taken it one step further and decided to take matters in her own hands by studying the Cox Cable manual... What a smart little girl! The even funnier thing is that she likes to hold the remote upside down, and check out how she decided to study the cable manual...

Kirra's first Christmas...

Kirra had a fantastic first Christmas! Both her Oma and Opa were there, along with Oma's boyfriend, Billy. She got to open up her presents (well, she tried to), loved the wrapping and the bows (especially the bows!).

We then had a great feast, while Kirra chewed on her spoon, followed by a leasurely afternoon...

Waiting for Santa on Xmas eve...

For some reason, Kirra wouldn't get tired and go to bed on Xmas eve... She kept us up until 1am, full of energy, playing around. Maybe she was waiting for Santa to stop by?! Somehow, she knew something was up... (Notice Tony falling asleep in the background...)
