Lane Farms Pumpkin Patch...

Halloween is a great American tradition... And it's so much fun to share it with Kirra this year (she dressed up as a raindeer!). Today, we met up with the Mamatoto babies+moms&dads at Lane Farms for some fun, and taking a few pics! Our babies ended up drawing quite a crowd when we lined them up in a row in the hay... It was a fun fun time!

Goleta's Lemon Festival

Having a baby makes you try out all sorts of new things that you never took the time to do before, like going to the Lemon Festival... Kirra is still a bit too young for the rides, but she had fun meeting the SB Fire Dpt mascot, and checking out the action...

Scooting around...

Well, not quite yet, but Kirra showed the very first sign of trying to move forward. And we got it on film... Wow... It's pretty subtle, and you have to pay attention (watch the knee/foot action!!). She still has some ways to go, but hey, you gotta start somewhere!

Rolley-Polley...

Now that Kirra is more comfortable rolling over, there is no stopping her once she gets started... She still needs a bit of motivation though. Reverse psychology seems to work pretty good for her. Check it out...

Visit from Grandpa

Tony's dad came down from Arroyo Grande to visit yesterday. Got to spend some time with his favorite (well, that's the only one!) grand-daughter... They both enjoyed it!

Kirra's first swim lessons...

We are hoping that Kirra will grow up enjoying playing in the water, like we do, and hopefully even surf. We'll see. In the meantime, we are trying to make her feel comfortable (and safe) in the water. She got her first real swim lesson on Monday (with an instructor and all...), and had a great time! Watch her kick her little legs as the instructor made a demo on how to move her in the water... She had that automatic reflex going on! Pretty amazing... We signed her up for a series of classes, so we'll be back for more fun soon!

Playing "Petanque"

Kirra is learning the fine art of playing the French game of Petanque (those heavy metallic balls). I'm not sure she quite managed to pick one up, but she sure had fun trying, until she got distracted by her best buddy, Pekoe the Cat...

Nap time...

Nap time = gold, especially if it lasts longer than 20-30 mins! On this one, somehow I managed to keep Kirra asleep while putting her down with her nursing pillow on the bed. She slept for about 2 hours like that... Loved it!

What a talker...

Kirra has been babbling for a while now, and she constantly experiments with new sounds... Of course, I've been working on her Mama (Tony will have to work with her on her Dada!!). She's getting pretty good at it. I like to believe she actually means Maman (Mommy in French!).

Gotta love a baby's smile...

Hanging out with Oma

Kirra loves hanging out with her Oma (Grandma in Dutch). I think Tony's mom also likes hanging out with her... Can you tell?!!!

Sitting up

Kirra has really enjoyed learning how to sit up... It seems that the world looks better from that angle!
You can also grab more stuff, which is always fun, as long as you don't fall over! Check out the video below:

6 Month-Old... Yikes!

Kirra turned 6 months on September 28! Can someone tell me what happened to the first 6 months?!! Oh, wait a minute, I guess I can just check out Kirra's blog...

Kirra the paper shredder!

Kirra's latest game is to shred paper... Any paper she finds is game, so don't leave anything you care about within reach, else it WILL get destroyed. Here is a demo for you, so you see what I mean (look at how serious she is too!):

Duke's 1st Birthday

Kirra has a number of boyfriends lined up... One of them is Duke Zender, who celebrated his 1st birthday in Santa Ynez last weekend. It was a fun time, especially with all the other babies there also.

Training for the circus...

Kirra has recently been training to join a circus... She loves balancing the blue ball on her hands and feet... She is actually quite good at it these days. Check it out...

Rolling over...

Ok, so babies are supposed to go through some developmental milestones during their first year... Rolling over is one of them, and Miss Kirra just hasn't been that motivated to get on the program... I was starting to think that she will maybe never walk, but Tony reminded me that there aren't too many adults that never learn how to walk! I guess he is right, as she finally rolled over. Well, she did it twice the day after her 5th month birthday, but then didn't seem to care until just a week before her 6 months. Check it out on the videos...

Kirra actually developed her own technique to roll over, which is somewhat unconventional: she grabs her toes, lets herself fall to the side, and then uses that momentum to roll over... Hey, whatever works is fine in my books...

Greg and Jennifer's wedding reception

Kirra got all decked out for our friend's Greg's wedding reception... She had a great time socializing with everyone, and even dancing to the tunes of the "Wedding Band"...
